Safety Training & SOPs

Safety Requirements

SciTech has a variety of spaces with ranging safety concerns. All of the instrument spaces require annual safety training prior to independent use. Individuals requesting to use an instrument independently are required to confirm they have completed specific safety training outlined in the instrument-specific policies with the appropriate SciTech staff member. What training is required as well as this confirmation will be tracked within Facility Online Manager, FOM.  Class demos as well as supervised instrument use do not need prior safety training. Any user not demonstrating safe lab behavior will be promptly corrected or dismissed from the lab space if immediate correction is not possible and the user’s supervisor may be informed by SciTech staff.

eSign Form

Individuals must submit the following eSign form to verify completion on all required equipment and laboratory safety trainings prior to being granted independent access to lab spaces and instrumentaion. The verification is only required once per user unless new instrumentation access requiring additional training is requested or substantial time has passed since last instrument usage. This will be determined at the discretion of SciTech staff.

Safety Trainings

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

SOPs should be considered supplementary learning materials. In-person training provided by SciTech staff is required for all users of our instrumentation.

Not all SciTech instruments have a current SOP. If you have questions, please email the associated instrument manager.
